Now let’s talk about the ‘Horch’, oh yes horch.
Horch is the Latin word for Audi; well what does Audi means?
The company’s name Audi is based on the Latin translation of the Surname of the founder August Horch. In German ‘horch’ means ‘listen’, and, when we translate it to Latin, it becomes ‘Audi’.

The 9th generation of Audi A4 came in 2016 with petrol version, and later we saw the diesel version in 2017.

It is a line of compact executive car manufactured in Germany since 1994. Being a member of Volkswagen group, and having 11 production facilities in 9 countries worldwide, Audi is one of the most preferred luxury cars in the world.

Looks, Design and Interior

If you have noticed, you would be aware of the fact that, Audi’s designs are always elegant and a bit aggressive. It looks pretty and aggressive at the same time. Headlamps are sporty and classic, and you can see a thin line on both sides connecting the headlamp and tail light, which looks really sexy.

When it comes to stylish interiors, Audi has never disappointed us. They have really done a good job in the looks as well as the quality of the interior. Leather seats, which are well positioned and supportive. Back seats are spacious and comfortable, easily accommodating 4 people. Though one more person can hop in the rear seat, it will lessen the comfort of everyone.

Tech and Ergonomics

Air conditioning is very good, with the system which adjusts the temperature according to the angle of the sun and combined with 3 zone AC control, you feel like home.

Audi’s digital instrument cluster which they call the virtual cockpit is nicely arranged with all information. It also has 12.3-inch infotainment system that’s crisp, precise and functional. It doesn’t look fancy but it’s elegant.

The dashboard is good, it has got really long AC went. Interior of every Audi is really a looker, combined with its elegant sharp looks.

Performance and Driving Experience

Let’s now talk about performance.
Audi has really disappointed us in the petrol variant, it’s just 1.4 litter Skoda Octavia engine which produces a mere 150 bhp, not even close to its competitors. While diesel engine has 180 bhp as its acceptable and good to compete in the market.

A4 is a bit slow in acceleration but, the weight has been decreased and the new 7-speed dual automatic gearbox is amazing. The A4 that are launched in India will have more ground clearance but, it has not affected the dynamics of the car.

It feels short footed and sharp, cornering feels good and in dynamic mode the weight of the steering wheel gives confidence.
But Audi was not planning to play a sports car card and then to gets criticized in the performance department. That’s why they decided not to give powerful engine. What they have done is, giving it refinement and comfort, but not at the expense of driving experience. It’s not sporty but it’s not that bad unless you put the foot down to get some power.

While trying to go fast you can feel the car is a bit under-powered and as you pass 4000rpm, performance doesn’t match the sound (means the acceleration is increased the sound increases but the speed doesn’t increase) even in dynamic mode the rev is held till red line but this doesn’t help you can even hear it inside the car which can be really annoying.

And overtaking can be a bit underrated at high speed. But until you stay soft with the accelerator it will please you well. The cabin is well finished and well damped.

Final verdict

Looks and design: 9/10
Specs & features: 8/10
Dynamics & performance: 7/10
Safety & quality: 9/10
After-sale service: 8/10

It’s a great car to be with and it can be called a semi-luxury sedan, and not for people who are looking for acceleration and top speed. If you want comfort quality and dynamics, Audi A4 is your car.
