Mumbai's BMC comes up with New Rules to Stop Parkings in NO-parking Zones

Source: Wikimedia Commons

It is interesting news for those who are fed up with people parking in the wrong places and causing traffic jams in Mumbai. As interesting it is, you will be a little scared too with this.
The BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation and Mumbai Traffic police are going to implement the latest rules from Sunday onwards. The new rules come with new fines for parking in no-parking zones which ranges from Rs 5,000 to Rs 23,000. Isn’t it a big step for reducing the vehicle crowd in the city?

It will be applicable to vehicles parked in the 500-metre radius of the 26 public parking lots and 20 designated BESTS depots in the city. The penalty will include the fine for illegal parking and towing charges as well, which will range from Rs 5000-8300 for two-wheelers and Rs 15,000-23,000 for heavy vehicles.

The notice and regarding information have been made to reach the required areas around Mumbai and authorities are ready for the new changes. The latest penalties for medium vehicles shall be Rs 11,000 to Rs 17,600, light motor vehicles Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 and for all types of two-wheelers Rs 8,000 to 12,000 per violation. And the fines will keep increasing daily if unpaid. Mumbai has a vehicle population of 3 million if we include all categories, which is very huge for a city like Mumbai but it is not uncommon nowadays. A city which keeps growing in every term will face these types of problems and strict steps have to be taken by authorities.

Initially, the new rules will be implemented in heavy traffic areas and in localities with already sufficient alternative parking facilities, gradually it will be extended to all other areas. It is an important move as the no parking signs did merely anything for many years and now it’s time to step up the rules, as you may have heard the brawls between drivers traffic police have gone so bad that BMC has requisitioned services of ex-service personnel and even security guards to help the traffic police.

It will be a tough job for the officials to implement the new rules and difficult for the unruly class of drivers as well. Let’s see how it goes and whether other cities will follow similar kind of actions to curb the rulebreakers.

Source: PxHere.com

Suzuki Ertiga and Ciaz sedan are focused in India and Africa markets are the focus for Toyota for now. Companies will jointly start making mid-size MPV soon.

They agreed to do this soon. Yes, automobile giants, Toyota and Suzuki are going hand in hand to capture the car market. And also the news is that they will jointly develop and share a C-segment MPV in our country.
Well, it’s going to be the game-changer in a few years when these two Japanese companies work together to dominate the Indian market.

Toyota Motors and Suzuki Motors have agreed to move towards sharing more models, vehicle designs and electrified vehicle technology with each other. The discussion has been started around 2017 and the memorandum of understanding too was signed in that year.

Being a local unit, Toyota Kirloskar, a Japanese automaker should never be undermined. The deal has been struck to build the premium Baleno hatchback and compact SUV Vitara Brezza from Suzuki’s Indian unit, Maruti Suzuki.

They discussed to share these 3 categories:

1. Electrified vehicle technology including Toyota's patented hybrid vehicle systems, s
2. Suzuki's compact vehicle architecture and engines
3. Leveraging each other's manufacturing capabilities for global markets

You will see the local unit of Toyota in Biddai(of Bengaluru) making Suzuki cars which will have models like Vitara Brezza, Ciaz, Baleno, and Ertiga. Exporting to Africa will soon begin from here.

Now, what’s in for Suzuki. Suzuki will be getting electrified vehicles built by Toyota platform, yes, the RAV4 & Corolla Wagon for the European market.
They will also be developing C-segment MPV for the Indian market.

Toyota will benefit from Suzuki’s know-how on a compact car and it will bring newly developed Suzuki engines for compact cars. Those engines will be developed by Denso and Toyota & will be made in Toyota’s manufacturing plant in Poland.

Let’s wait and see how these superpowers` in the automobile industry bring new challenges to rivals in the future.

Brio to be discontinued in India

Source: Wikimedia Commons
Who loves the Brio? Yes, Honda Brio. Do you? Not sure, or just not interested? Or confused about buying a car like that?
Now Honda seems to have figured it out now and no more confusion on that.
The Honda has just finished the last batch of its entry-level hatchback Brio in India. It though struggled a good one and a half-decade to survive in Indian market but it seems to be failing.

They are going to focus more on their model Amaze now and maximise its sales. Vice President and Director (sales and marketing) Rajesh Goel confirmed that their entry-level car is now Amaze and they have stopped the production of Brio.
As per the international trends, the customer preference is shifting towards bigger models of cars whether it's a hatchback or compact SUV.
Things are changing so fast in India but slower than other nations. Sometimes it's the sedan model which are in demand and sometimes it the hatchback. Now the compact SUVs are playing a great role in the market.
Goel presses on the statement that Amaze will be their entry-level can for now (as per PTI reports).

Jazz and WR-V are other 2 cars which would deliver to the small car requirements, he added.
Honda launched Brio in September 2001 and sold around 97,000 till 2018.
You may remember the Mobilio, the MPV vehicle, yes, the multi-purpose vehicle of Honda. IN 2017, the model was discontinued in India because of the poor demand in the market. A total of 40,789 units were sold in India till date.

The decision seems appropriate and right for the time being, and they have to focus on the alternate model so they too don't suffer the same fate of Brio. In a market of sudden and drastic changes, being on the top and on point is so difficult for automakers.

Now charge your Electric Vehicle faster than your Smartphone

Source: Pixaby

Wouldn’t it be fun if your electric car can be charged in a few minutes like the fast charging tech of new smartphones? Wouldn’t it be amazing if you have to spend a little more on charging stations than on petrol pumps for a long ride in your electric vehicle?

These all sound to be happening right now and, no kidding, you can charge your Ev in just 15 minutes with this newly developed battery called Novel Batteries.
The Novel battery seems to be the next big thing in the electrification of our transportation system. The co-founder and CEO of Mumbai based start-up Gegadyne Energy say that these batteries are said to be more efficient than the traditional lithium-ion based batteries.

The start-up claims the charging time of the battery to be just 15minutes and is affordable to the end-user. As we know, the battery of EVs cost up to 40% of the total cost of the e-vehicle, hence, they are trying to reduce the price of battery with the decreased charging time. They are planning ahead for the year 2030 where every vehicle you see on road will be an electric vehicle. In 2016, the 50% demand for Li batteries were for the EVs.

These new batteries are to be the direct replacement of existing ones and will be introduced to the market in cylindrical, pouch and prismatic form, said Ameya Gadiwan, Chief Technical Officer (CTO), Gegadyne Energy.

By introducing the Novel batteries in the market, the lithium-ion batteries will be considered inferior and poor in battery life. Novel batteries store energy in a combination of the electrostatic and electrochemical process which helps in maintaining long battery life cycle and almost 50% fast in charging than the traditional batteries.

The prototype is a success and they will be launching the pilot production of batteries within 12 months. The price is supposed to be lower than lithium batteries and as the economies of scale work out, the price will be much lower.

We can hope to see who will be their competitors in coming days which will lead to a further reduction in price and improved services.

Rental cars or car-sharing is a new concept in India, or is it?

We share cabs and do pool payment and, we are used to taking a car for rent. And guess what, there are new start-ups coming to India, or are being developed in India for renting and sharing cars, especially electric cars.

Partnered with Ford & Mahindra, Zoomcar has become India’s first car rental company to offer electric cars in 2013. But, that’s not the real story today.

Now, Tata Motors has partnered with Zoomcar and flagged-off the first batch of Tigor EV in Pune on Thursday. Under this partnership, they plan to launch around 500 units of electric cars in 20 cities next year.

Greg Moran, co-founder, and CEO of Zoomcar said, “The Zoomcar team is thrilled to partner with Tata Motors to introduce EVs in Pune.”

Zoomcar let people/users to rent cars by the hour, day, week or month. At present, the firm is operating in around 35 cities across India.

The main competitors of Zoom cars are Drivezy and MylesCars. Myles is going to be a big rival of Zoomcars as they are backed by Carzonrent (car rental) a company headquartered in Delhi.

Myles is prominent in most of the metropolitan and tier 2 cities in India.

The real challenge will be the all-around acceptance of people around the country and the proper positioning of these services in society.
