Indian Scout Bobber Review

The Indian Scout series is built by the famous Indian Motorcycle Company. Its production was started from the 1920s and it was Indian’s most valued model; 101 Scout being named the best Indian made motorcycle ever.

A 741 model was built for the WW II, a military version of old Thirty Fifty.

Straight to 2011, Polaris Industries bought the Indian Motorcycle Company. They introduced a new model in 2015 with 1,133cc.

Now, let’s talk about the Indian Scout Bobber.

Looks and Design

Indian Scout Bobber, what a bike she is. Just looking at her makes me want to buy it. It’s chopped off the front and rear mudguard, all black finish makes her so attractive.

She has a presence even while standing still, that you will keep on looking back again and till she goes out of your site.
That long and wide fuel tank, those big fat tyres, full black finish, headlamp, led indicator and tail light, aah that’s so much. Even the upside down rear view mirror adds to the look but, I would suggest you fix it to the upper position as in the original position it will be there only for looks and your arm will be blocking the rear view mirrors.

From any angle you look at her, she will keep your eye focused on her. The instrument cluster is a single circular with the analogue speedometer and a small digital display. Instrument cluster displays all the basic requirement you want to be displayed even the RPM, gear position indicator.

Indian scout series is the entry level Indian bikes you can buy. So it is as simple as you can hope for but still, it doesn’t mean it is not having quality. The fit and finish of her are really good, even when you touch it, it feels well made.

But if you want someone to sit behind you, then you would have to buy the optional extra rear seat. You don’t have to worry even with the rear seat she is a hell of a bike to look at. From some angle, we even thought that ghost rider should switch his bike with this one.

Performance and Dynamics

Now let’s talk about the performance and dynamics of the Bobber. It has the traditional V twin 1113 cc liquid cooled engine, producing 100 bhp and for her, it is more than enough.

It doesn’t have all the future tech multi-mode to control throttle response and suspension setup. In that basis, it is as raw as it comes, but still, it has traction control system so that you won’t accidentally do wheelie or burnout.

It has really big and wide tyres giving her lots of grip, and because she is a Bobber there are no access parts which would be there for show, not even the leg guard, and it is as low as it comes even the ride height. Even the wheelbase is smaller than the normal scout.

Adding up all this makes her a hell of a bike to ride. With so much power you can sprint like crazy and with the low centre of gravity and smaller wheelbase, it is fun to ride her in the corner. Even the suspension is stiff and the suspension travel on the rear wheel is just 50 mm so it is as sporty as it comes.

The riding position is a bit aggressive because of long petrol tank and the seat might not be so comfortable, but not for all, some might like it and find it comfortable as it depends on person to person. And even if you can take her for long distance cruse or not. It is a joy to ride her on a smooth road, but there are few big buts. Because of stiff suspension and just 50 mm suspension travel at the back, you will feel each and every bump in the road.

Yes she is sporty and taking a turn is not much of a problem, but still, it is not meant for you to take her on racing tracks unless it is a flat racing track, then, there won’t be many issues. And you can try a flat dirt track where you won’t have to learn to take the turn, because of lower ground clearance you will hit your foot side rest on the ground.

There is one more issue which would be mostly for the 1st timers who would be going to ride her. Gearbox it is not so smooth and you might hit neutral going from 1 to 2. Other than that it is a great bike to be with.

Final verdict

If you want a bike with presence, power, looks and handling go for it. Don’t buy it if you want the comfortable smooth ride and your locality or if your city has many potholes.

Nissan GTR Review

The Nissan GT-R, also known by her as the Godzilla and what a car she is. She is a dream of every motor-heads. R35 is in her 10th model year and, they have kept giving her changes bit by bit in areas like power, looks and aero tweaks. In terms of looks, there are a few mixed reactions but, everyone has their own opinion but for me, she is a mean looking beautiful car.

The Nissan GTR is a 2-door 2+2 high-performance car produced by Nissan and first launched in 2007. It is the successor to the Nissan Skyline GT-R, though no longer part of the Skyline range. The name having been given over to the R35 series and having since left its racing history.

The first Skyline, built by the Prince Motor Company, made its debut in 1957, the first GT-R under the Nissan banner didn't make its appearance until 1969 (Nissan took over Prince in 1966).

For the better part of 40 years, it was only a Japanese legend., the Nissan Skyline GT-R was a high-tech, high-performance coupe we could only get a glimpse of in Japanese magazines or experience virtually through video games.

Built for with all-wheel drive, all-wheel steering, and a twin-turbocharged straight-6, it was understandably a car we drooled over, but only from afar. And that nickname Godzilla was designated for this car.

And then it came here in 2008, and it hasn't disappointed. Since then the car has been a terrific competitor for its rivals

Now she has also got few aero tweaks; reducing the drag coefficient. Those new streaks and scoops give her a sharper look. Even the front grill looks so cool. She has got a new front splitter and side skirt. The main change is not outside but, inside.

She has got a bit better interior material and quality even the infotainment system looks better than before. But it’s about to be 10 years since first R35 was launched and, you can now feel it even in the looks. A car which we use to call a super-fast and super quick car is now just a fast and quick car. But still she has a presence, anyone who sees her around the corner will turn his head to look at her again and again.

Performance and Dynamics

About the awesome performance for which GTR is known and, is still rocking in that area. Even now there are not many supercars which can beat her even in the straight line, as she can do 0- 100 kph is just 2.9 seconds. But I have to point you out something when they had 1st made GTR it was not for straight line speed but to corner at the mind-bending speed which it does smoothly.

She has an AWD system which is unique, it sends all of her power to the back wheel and can send up to 50% of the power to the front but it is sent only when it is required else, most of the time it is an RWD car.

Even though the engine is in the front side it doesn’t mean she is front engine car, the whole engine is on and behind the front wheel which makes her a front mid-engine car and the transmission is in the back giving her 50-50 weight distribution.
Even the AWD and VDC (Vehicle Dynamic Control) system has been improved giving her best traction on any surface.

Most of the people think that the GTR should lose some weight but you should never tell a lady to lose some weight! By the way, there is a reason the creators of GTR decided to stick on that weight because the racing cars have big spoilers and front splitters and many aero tweaks to give the downforce but on a street car it is not possible so they decided to give the downforce by weight.
But it doesn’t mean she is heavy bulky and has body roll, it can still go around the corner at incredible speed.

The dual clutch is good especially in manual mode but in automatic mode, I don’t think so. But she has got a brand new hand built titanium exhaust, I don’t know why some people say she doesn’t have a good sound, but I this she has a good load roar.

This 2017 model has got a softer suspension setup because of which unlike in the past this new GTR much easier and comfortable to ride slow and on normal roads, but it has its backlogs which is it has lost a bit of her cornering magic but you won’t notice it. And her back seats are a bit usable but not much for adults for a long journey.

There are some people who say that GTR is full computer geek cars, yes it makes you feel like driving god and yes it is really easy to drive her fast but it doesn’t mean that it’s not fun to drive her and, it also doesn’t mean that you don’t feel the car, car feels connected and responsive.

If you love driving and you’re into cars and you have money and still you won’t buy it, means you don’t like driving and you’re not into cars. If you love driving and you want to go fast you should buy it. But not for those who want luxury and super comfortable ride, it’s a supercar.

Looks and Design
Triumph tiger 800 has a different story. Unlike other motorcycles, it wasn’t made for the road first and then modified to go off-road. They are off-road bikes which are made so that she can also cruse on the road, and she looks tough, can’t say a pretty one but, she has her own charm.

Those bug-eye headlamps with full led and even daytime running light, those visible chassis a bit from the side, muscular tank, wind guard these all add so much to the looks makes her eye-catching. She now even has full collared TFT screen instrument cluster which more than clear in daylight.

Triumph has said that she had gone through 200 different types of changes, not just in looks but in parts and details and performance like new instrument cluster. Now the wind guard on top of the headlamp is easily adjustable and there are wind deflectors on the side ass well with some gaps to let some air pass making it more comfortable to ride it on high speed.

On top end models there are heated seats and heated handlebars, even the illumination of keys on the handlebar is elegant. Even the exhaust is bit up-word so that people can ride her through river or a bit deep water body and it makes her look cool.

Tiger comes in 2 basic parts XR and XC. XRs are more focused on road and XCs are focused for off-road, and you can easily differentiate the two by simple observation. XR has lower ground clearance then the XC and XC have 21-inch tires instead of 19 which is on XR which really differentiates the 2 and their intents.

Dynamics and Ergonomics
Let’s talk about her dynamics. Let’s first cover off-road. She is like a champ especially the XC and with the optional tire pack in which you get Dhaka rally style off-road tires, which gives her so much grip.
It makes you feel like you can go through anything combines with those long suspension travel and 21-inch wheel in front. It’s not like XR can’t go off road but the suspension is not designed for serious off-roading but with off-road tires, she can do it well.

This new 2018 model has got shorter one gear which makes her lot more responsive especially in off-roading. The older model engine was smooth but the new is a lot smoother and responsive, it mostly feels like a racing bike engine and it also packs a punch.

In XC top variant there is a new mode; off-road pro, what it does is keeping ABS active on front wheels and helps you so that u can slide and go deep and hard.

When it comes to on-road agility XR is a bit ahead of XC as it is designed to have better behaved on road then XC and you can even feel it. XR can change direction then XC and has a good feedback compared to XC which feels a bit numb.
But if you’re mostly travelling to an area where roads are in a bit worse condition, then you would be better off with XC because of its long suspension setup it absorbs much better then XR and feels more comfortable.

Breaks are from Brembo which has a good bite and make her stop well. Even the seats are well designed with some good material making her really comfortable for any road and even for very long distance travelling.

In XC you can adjust the ride height of the bike. It also has rain mode to help you give the best traction. There is also a mode in which you can customize all electronic aids and traction control system and throttle response as you like.

Final verdict:

Looks and design: 9/10
Specs & features: 9/10
Dynamics & performance: 7/10
Safety & quality: 9/10

Tiger 800 is a great bike if you are never palling to go for off-roading then you can go for XR with street tires as are ever you feel like going you can take it off road without any worries. If you are planning for off road then go for XC with optional off-road tires.

Both have good road manners and even off road, and really well suited for long distance touring.
Best suited for people who like rough bikes and sharp looks and are looking for off-road fun.
