Nissan GTR Review

The Nissan GT-R, also known by her as the Godzilla and what a car she is. She is a dream of every motor-heads. R35 is in her 10th model year and, they have kept giving her changes bit by bit in areas like power, looks and aero tweaks. In terms of looks, there are a few mixed reactions but, everyone has their own opinion but for me, she is a mean looking beautiful car.

The Nissan GTR is a 2-door 2+2 high-performance car produced by Nissan and first launched in 2007. It is the successor to the Nissan Skyline GT-R, though no longer part of the Skyline range. The name having been given over to the R35 series and having since left its racing history.

The first Skyline, built by the Prince Motor Company, made its debut in 1957, the first GT-R under the Nissan banner didn't make its appearance until 1969 (Nissan took over Prince in 1966).

For the better part of 40 years, it was only a Japanese legend., the Nissan Skyline GT-R was a high-tech, high-performance coupe we could only get a glimpse of in Japanese magazines or experience virtually through video games.

Built for with all-wheel drive, all-wheel steering, and a twin-turbocharged straight-6, it was understandably a car we drooled over, but only from afar. And that nickname Godzilla was designated for this car.

And then it came here in 2008, and it hasn't disappointed. Since then the car has been a terrific competitor for its rivals

Now she has also got few aero tweaks; reducing the drag coefficient. Those new streaks and scoops give her a sharper look. Even the front grill looks so cool. She has got a new front splitter and side skirt. The main change is not outside but, inside.

She has got a bit better interior material and quality even the infotainment system looks better than before. But it’s about to be 10 years since first R35 was launched and, you can now feel it even in the looks. A car which we use to call a super-fast and super quick car is now just a fast and quick car. But still she has a presence, anyone who sees her around the corner will turn his head to look at her again and again.

Performance and Dynamics

About the awesome performance for which GTR is known and, is still rocking in that area. Even now there are not many supercars which can beat her even in the straight line, as she can do 0- 100 kph is just 2.9 seconds. But I have to point you out something when they had 1st made GTR it was not for straight line speed but to corner at the mind-bending speed which it does smoothly.

She has an AWD system which is unique, it sends all of her power to the back wheel and can send up to 50% of the power to the front but it is sent only when it is required else, most of the time it is an RWD car.

Even though the engine is in the front side it doesn’t mean she is front engine car, the whole engine is on and behind the front wheel which makes her a front mid-engine car and the transmission is in the back giving her 50-50 weight distribution.
Even the AWD and VDC (Vehicle Dynamic Control) system has been improved giving her best traction on any surface.

Most of the people think that the GTR should lose some weight but you should never tell a lady to lose some weight! By the way, there is a reason the creators of GTR decided to stick on that weight because the racing cars have big spoilers and front splitters and many aero tweaks to give the downforce but on a street car it is not possible so they decided to give the downforce by weight.
But it doesn’t mean she is heavy bulky and has body roll, it can still go around the corner at incredible speed.

The dual clutch is good especially in manual mode but in automatic mode, I don’t think so. But she has got a brand new hand built titanium exhaust, I don’t know why some people say she doesn’t have a good sound, but I this she has a good load roar.

This 2017 model has got a softer suspension setup because of which unlike in the past this new GTR much easier and comfortable to ride slow and on normal roads, but it has its backlogs which is it has lost a bit of her cornering magic but you won’t notice it. And her back seats are a bit usable but not much for adults for a long journey.

There are some people who say that GTR is full computer geek cars, yes it makes you feel like driving god and yes it is really easy to drive her fast but it doesn’t mean that it’s not fun to drive her and, it also doesn’t mean that you don’t feel the car, car feels connected and responsive.

Final verdict:

Looks and design: 9/10
Specs & features: 7/10
Dynamics & performance: 9/10
Safety & quality: 8/10

If you love driving and you’re into cars and you have money and still you won’t buy it, means you don’t like driving and you’re not into cars. If you love driving and you want to go fast you should buy it. But not for those who want luxury and super comfortable ride, it’s a supercar.
