FORD F-150 RAPTOR

Ford Raptor is one of the best pickup trucks you can find in the market. There are different types of pickup trucks, but we are focusing on the crew/super cab.

While a pickup truck is a rare scene in India, it is quite popular in other countries. Pickup trucks are light-duty/utility vehicles with a comfy cabin and open space for cargo at the rear with a tailgate. It is known as ‘utes’ in Australian and as ‘bakkie’/bak/ meaning bowl or container in African regions.

When it comes to the global market, GM, Ford, and Fiat make the lead in pickups. In India, we have Mahindra Bolero Maxi Truck, Mahindra Imperio etc mostly used for commercial purposes. You might have seen Isuzu pickup once or twice but still, it’s not a common sight for Indians right now.

Of course, you don’t see small moveable houses being pulled by pickups in India which is a common sight in the US, Australia, etc.

I think pickups are almost a cultural acceptance in different countries and in India, owning a pickup is not as owning any other car and you will be stereotyped as a laborer, blue-collar job person or many more unless the pickup is an X-Class.

In the international market, you may see Toyota Hilux, Chevrolet Montana, Izusu D-Max and many more

These types of pickup trucks are more of a trend than utility.

Looks and design

Raptor is one of the best-looking pickup trucks I have ever seen and it is big really big, the width of the car is 7.19 feet and is roughly more than 18 feet long. Still, if you look at the Raptor it’s such a muscular and sporty looking truck. It is a beefed-up version standard F150 or you can say raptor is on steroids. From any angle, when you look at it you will feel the power and presence, this is a car you don't see in your rearview mirror honking. I bet if you dress up properly in a macho or rugged way and go to a party or something; when you get off this machine, I guarantee you that you'll look the manliest man in that place. That is how much power and presence this pickup gives out. D**n it would make a great monster truck

The headlight is big and half inverted trapezium if that's the shape, the front grill is beautifully designed with a big Ford logo in the middle. A functional vent in the upper quarter wheel arch which fits in the design, power-folding side mirror just close to it with a camera integrated into it(360-degree set). A long-running board with small mature design with Raptor written over it.

Panoramic sunroof is of appropriate size for this vehicle. Muscular lines running the from door handles from front to the back of the car where you can see the taillight of the same design as the front one. In the rear on the tailgate also you can find the big Ford logo, d*mn this machine is full macho style; the logo covering the majority of the tailgate!! There is a camera in the back, completing the 360-degree cam.

The all-terrain tires are good looking,17inch aluminum wheels adding the significant bad boy look to it. The Raptor is 3 inch taller than a normal F150. fitted with dual exhaust having a matte black finish beautifully matches the design. The tailgate is super smooth and opens even smoothly, with embedded steps so you can climb in easily.

If you have seen a Ford SVT Lightning in real or in movies; chronologically, it is the predecessor of F150 Raptor.

The Raptor is unaltered for the 2020 model, yet still benefits from updated adaptive Fox Racing dampers and minor trim changes that were added to it in 2019. Three new paint colors grace the pallet: Iconic Silver, Lead Foot, and Rapid Red are added to the new model.

Interior and Tech

Because it's 7 feet wide you can imagine how much space you will get inside. It’s so big and spacious and so high up in the ground that they have also given a handle so that people can pull themself up. The dashboard is well planned and organized but the infotainment system is something I feel should have been updated and the screen size should have been made bigger. There are lots of storage places you can find and enough electric charging points for everyone. When it comes to the seats, front seats are good supportive Recaro seats, and seats are big enough for any size of people to fit perfectly. Now when we go to rear seats because it is a super cab there is lots of leg space and height is never an issue in this one even if there are 3 full-grown men at the back they might not even have to touch their shoulders and sit comfortably. They have even given a bit of storage place below the rear seats.

The Raptor's comfy, the laid-back interior is at odds with its muscular exterior. It's best in base form, but available features such as heated and cooled front seats, leather seating surfaces, & unique color choices can add a touch of elegance. The Raptor's 5.5-foot cargo bed is fantastic and a big advantage over its rivals and its interior spacious storage is the best among rivals. Those needing a longer bed that's easier for loading should consider the regular normal F-150.

The Raptor's touchscreen infotainment system—called Sync 3—is well equipped and easy to use. It supports Apple CarPlay & Android Auto.

Safety and Driver-Assistance Features

The Raptor does its best to avoid passenger extinction with fantastic crash-test ratings. While rivals have similar options for active safety, Ford's full-size pickups offer several driver-assistance technologies. Key safety features include:

1.Standard forward-collision warning and automated emergency braking

2.Available lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist

3.Available blind-spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert

Performance:

Unlike other normal pickup trucks, Raptor is a sports Pickup truck enough though it weighs more than 3 tones it can go 0- 100 kph is just 5.5 sec, for a car this big and this heavy its a great performance. The current-gen raptor has dual turbocharged EcoBoost V6 which gives 450 bhp and 510 lb-ft of torque which is way more than what the previous-gen V8 use to give. Yes for people who are obsessed with how it sounds now will be disappointed, but even they can’t argue that it has way more performance than before. To handle this much weight it still has FOX Racing Shocks suspension for off-roading but now it also has active suspension which adjusts the stiffness depending on the mode, which means on curvy roads you will be able to push it a bit harder without much body roll and at the same time going offroading with higher ground clearance absorbing all the bumps. It has 6 driving modes

Normal

This mode is perfect to drive down a city road or highway, smoothly sliding through loose traffic.

Sport

You can’t always use an SUV for offroading, you can but it won’t be as fun as a pickup, especially once you have driven a Ford pickup. The raptor in sports mode is a free-spirited beast that gives high throttle response and sportier steering feel.

Weather

When the path is not normal as it used to be, this mode helps you to drive with confidence in any weather at any condition possible. snow/wet mode automatically engages 4auto. Advance Trac, throttle response & the shift schedule optimizes for increased confidence in slippery slopes.

Mud/Sand

For the off-road track, this mode is your favorite, I can tell now itself. The four high and the electronic locking differential automatically engage for driving over loose or soft ground.

Rock Crawl

This setting is for an intense off-roading session, and low-speed rock climbing, which an SUV can barely do. Rock crawl gives confidence to the driver to place the vehicle in 4 Low, the electronic locking differential is automatically engaged & AdvanceTrac is set to the least intrusive settings for optimum rock-climbing effort. Throttle modulation and transmission response are optimized for best control experience. And if, the front camera allows the driver to see what’s right in front of the truck, and it can be kept on at speeds up to 15 mph.

Baja

This mode is when Raptor reaches the epitome of the competition. High-speed desert running, 4 high, Advance Trac is programmed to least intrusive settings, throttle map adjusts linear power & improved engine response, hardcore off-roading with greater control are some of the changes you’ll notice. Quicker shifts in transmission which hold the gear longer; keeping the vehicle in its powerband.

Baja Along with the individual AdvanceTrac settings tied to drive modes, Raptor continues the Ford Performance tradition of letting the driver program the system’s settings to match conditions and skill-level. The driver can decrease traction control but keep stability control on with a single press of the electronic stability control button; or, by holding the button for five seconds, the driver can turn AdvanceTrac settings off.

As long as you select the right mode it will help do things better then what you can hope for. It comes to life when you’re in Baja mode and on smooth uneven sand or lose surface, in normal production SUV or Trucks u would have to go slow but in raptor faster you go better it will be like gliding over the uneven parts. It’s not just good for a straight line you can even drift like a pro especially on a loose surface, it’s a truck purpose-built to take out anywhere but not like a boring way but in a crazy fast way.

This truck will feel best in snow and sand or any place where you won’t have to worry about speed because of big rocks and just slap the accelerator and go as fast as you can, it will always give you confidence that you can do it. Even while going off-roading it has around it has a 30.2-degree approach angle and a 23-degree departure angle and with the ground clearance of 11.5 inches can get it through most of the big obstacles and is also available with Beadlock capable wheels to grip on any surface.

With both 4 high and 4 Low gearboxes, along with that, it can also be driven only as RWD when driving normally on the main road to improve efficiency. It also has a system to help with the trailer while you reverse it with a trailer attached, but its a feature I don’t think most will use.

Price in the USA:- $ 53,205

Expected Price if launched in India:- INR 1.2 cr

Final verdict:

It is an expensive truck, which is worth the price, this type of trucks or more of a lifestyle than a necessity, mostly suited to those who like to drive from a position high up the ground and to feel like the king of the roads, not for those who want on-road performance but something of a kick on every road and make everyone inside comfortable while doing it and especially of road blasts.

Prevent Your Car From Becoming a Hotbed for Viruses

Deadly Disease
This year started with a blast, not a fun blast, but flames. Wildfire in Australia. Then we almost had a WWIII when the USA-Iran tension increased. Finally, when everything was settling down and the world was breathing normally, something very dangerous started in Wuhan, China which soon became an epidemic and now a pandemic.
Yes, the Coronavirus or Covid-19 has reached in every corner of the world.

Now before we start, our heartfelt condolences to everyone who lost their family and friends. We pray for the fast recovery of everyone. We shall overcome!

The coronavirus is defined as below in Wikipedia.
“Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The disease was first identified in 2019 in Wuhan, the capital of Hubei, China, and has since spread globally, resulting in the 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic. Common symptoms include fever, cough, and shortness of breath. Muscle pain, sputum production, diarrhoea, and sore throat are less common. While the majority of cases result in mild symptoms,[14] some progress to pneumonia and multi-organ failure.”

As there is no cure found for this disease, we can only treat the symptoms and support our immune system to fight it. The best we can do is to avoid getting the virus in the first place.
As we always do, we will give you our suggestions to avoid the deadly virus while you use your vehicles to travel. Yes, India and many countries are under temporary lockdown but still, you are allowed to go out and by necessary items like food and medicines.
We will help you with the techniques which will prevent any virus from getting into your body and vehicle.

Why travel in a car during an emergency and not on a bike
One way to keep the distance from people is to travel in your private vehicle and avoid traffic; which is rare at this time.
When we say the vehicle, we car talking about the car. A car with all windows closed and properly cleaned inside and outside. I guess you are not stupid enough to drive an open convertible at this stage.

Those who don’t have a car still need to read this and take the required precautions. We decided to write this article as we come to know about the ability of the Covid-19 to stay on open spaces and materials like steel, plastic, wood etc. in many items it can stay up to 1 to 3 days.

How to clean your car/bike
To start with, wipe your interior with sanitizer after every ride to make the spread impossible. There are many places in a car where the virus can stick to and those are frequently touched places like door handles, door latches, lock buttons, seat belts and buckles, window-buttons, the mirrors, radio & climate control buttons etc.

It is not a good idea storing a large bottle of hand sanitizer in your vehicle. The heat may cause the alcohol in the sanitizer to “boil,” which causes an expansion of the sanitizer’s bottle.
This, in turn, might result in the leakage and a mess that will require an extensive cleaning effort. It is a better idea to carry a small bottle, which is near you, whether in the home, office or on the road.

Other methods are; alcohol can clean your vehicle’s cabin. It is mostly used by manufacturers of most automotive interiors for a long time. A quick wipe to clean most germs and fingerprints. Soap and water will work, too.

Extra time on the steering wheel is a good thing. Using disinfecting wipes to clean all the surfaces on the steering wheel will work. There are many more places like the redundant controls for radio, voice control, cruise control, navigation, and paddle shift levers. And most importantly the gear selector lever or the turn indicator stalks.
Cleaning the door and centre console armrests, display screens, cupholders, cubbyholes, air conditioner vents and even the door “grab handles.” is important. You touch them more than you realize & are loaded with bacteria and could also carry coronavirus.
Don’t forget the toys and aesthetic stuff you keep in your car and gadgets like tablet, mobile etc.

For two-wheelers, you know the same places, like handles, all switches, key, helmet, jacket, and other parts you usually touch. Same methods and techniques shall be applied here too.

What not to use to clean your vehicle
We strongly warn you not to use any type of bleach or hydrogen peroxide on the vehicle’s interior. Both will kill the coronavirus, but they will also cause damage to the vinyl and plastics used in most vehicles.

Vehicles are not affected by the virus, but, if you ignore to cleanse the vehicle, it may become a hotbed for viruses. Keeping your car clean has become imperative at this stage of the virus outbreak.

Stay Indoor Stay Safe
We all have to go outside to buy food and medicines, which is the only items allowed at this moment by the government. To go out is dangerous but it is necessary. Many local authorities are providing door to door food supplies to elders and poor. But everywhere it is not the same case. Stay at home as much as you can and go outside individually and only buy the required items and return home. And please don’t hoard the items as it will create ruckus and panic among locals.
Everyone stay strong and keep hope up high as our Government, police, paramedics are working day and night to save the world from this pandemic.
Wish you all good health and strength to survive the coming days.

Wish you all the best

KTM 690 SMC R 2020

Source: KTM.com

Before we begin the review of KTM 690 SMC R, you need to know about supermoto. Yeah, if it is not the familiar name you hear when you talk about racing, then read on to know more.

What's supermoto
For those who are wondering about the model and guessing that it is just an off-road stunt bike; well you are in for a surprise.

It is not just an off-road bike, I mean not just an off-road but on the road too. In fact, it is a racing bike. The race is called Supermoto. Sounds familiar to MotoGP right! Yeah, it is kind of that race but with more fun.

Supermoto is a king of motorcycle racing on race tracks that are a combination of 3 kinds of tracks i.e, the hard-packed dirt of flat track, the irregular jumps and hindrances of motocross, and the paved tarmac of road racing.

Source: ktm.com

The racing was originally started by Gavin Trippe in 1979 as a segment of the TV show Wide World of Sports. It was something like an all-star game, in which the best riders from the 3 separate genres of motorcycle racing could temporarily forget their normal race type and compete in this new racing developed by Gavin. By winning this race they become the best of all tracks, interesting, isn't it?!
Years went by and today Supermoto is a special genre of crossover moto racing.

Motorcycles used are a custom-created combination of off-road and on-road racing types. It is famously known as 'supermotard' BIKES.

Racers also wear a combination of the road-race and offroad safety-equipment, normally road racing leathers and motocross helmets, boots and protective gears. Unlike normal motorcycle racing, the emphasis lies on slower speeds—typically less than 100 mph or 160 km/h— on short, technical tracks.

KTM
KTM, earlier known as the KTM Sportmotorcycle AG has its origin in Austria where they produced both motorcycles and sports cars owned by KTM Industries AG & Bajaj Auto.

Since 2012, KTM has been the top two-wheeler manufacturer in Europe for 4 continuous years. Globally, the company is among the top off-road motorcycle manufacturers. In 2016, KTM sold 203,423 motor vehicles worldwide.

KTM 690 SMC R
What we are looking at here is the supermoto from Austrian manufacturer KTM AG. The bike has a single-cylinder engine with a displacement of 690cm³ capable of producing 49 kW (67 hp). This model was available from 2012 to 2017 and was bestselling in Germany in 2015 and 2016. Although it was discontinued from 2017, at the end of 2018, they declared the return of production and will be available to consumers fro 2019. The new model has a revised single-cylinder engine of 74hp.

Tech & Features

SOFTWARE & ELECTRONICS
Having full control over your supermoto bike, while having optimum performance has never been made easier by the sophisticated electronics package that includes cornering ABS,  (Motorcycle Traction Control) and a full range of assistance modes with user-friendly adjustability. Quickshifter+ allows effortless electronically assisted clutch-free gear shifts, whether you are changing up or down

RIDER AIDS
HARNESS THE POWER
Electronic fuel injection, ride-by-wire & the engine management system make it possible to offer innovative yet easy-to-use electronic rider aids. These techs can be selected, deselected and utilized to put the powerful new-generation LC4 motor to effective use across a much wider range of streets, surfaces and conditions.

RIDE MODES
There are two ride modes: "Street" mode gives a sporty throttle response where cornering-sensitive MTC limits wheel slip and keeps wheelies to a minimum for optimal street-riding performance, while "Sport" mode provides more aggressive throttle response with reduced traction control to allow drifts and full control of the slide, aimed at the track or very sporty street usage.

MTC (MOTORCYCLE TRACTION CONTROL)
The MTC lean-angle sensitive traction control system reacts instantly when the rear wheel rotation speed becomes disproportionate to the riding situation. In just milliseconds MTC reduces the engine output with an extremely sleek, barely perceptible intervention at the throttle valves until slippage is reduced to optimum proportions for the selected ride mode and current angle of lean. The traction control can also be switched off.

QUICKSHIFTER +
It uses two sensors, in which one sensor on the shift arm detects the movement on the shift lever rod when the rider upshifts and the system cuts the injection instantaneously. As soon as the 2nd sensor detects the gear engagement it reapplies the injection and opens the butterfly valve, making sure there is fast and smooth action at all throttle openings and engine speeds. When you do the downshifting, the system matches the engine speed to the speed of the lower gear.

CORNERING ABS
KTM’s Cornering ABS mode allows riders to every time use the full power of the brakes in all conditions while taking the lean angle of the motorcycle into account. In Supermoto ABS mode, the ABS only acts upon the front wheel, when cornering-sensitivity is disabled. In extreme scenarios, the rider can also choose to disable the ABS completely.

SUPERMOTO-ABS
Supermoto ABS allows rear wheel lockup & reduced ABS on the front wheel for the riders who like to have more control over the motorcycle while pushing the limit through turns.

Looks and design

She looks like an off-road bike which you can use to ride mountains and dirt roads in the forest. But that’s not the case, it looks like it’s built for off-roading but it goes anywhere you want. Built for on-road as well, and not just riding in; for racing.

Source: ktm.com

The frame design is a chrome-moly tubular space frame, powder-coated.
The orange white and black combo gives it a funky look but not overly done. It looks lightweight, which it is and manageable on any kind of surface. The exoskeleton look gives it an edgy look and intimidating. Overall it looks like a fun bike to ride wherever you want.

Performance:
She is made for fun with power, with the biggest and most powerful single-cylinder bike in the market. Big engine and power normally make the engine to vibrate harder but here, they have refined it in a way that it minimises the vibrations to a negligible level.  In the pursuit for the power at the top end has not maid the bike lazy at low rpm, rather the power delivery is linear and can be left from as low as 2000 rpm in which the bike has also got different modes to adjust the throttle response for the line by wire connection given in this bike. Awesome, isn’t it!

The engine is nothing without a good clutch and gearbox, and she has one of the best, slipper clutch has a torque-assist design which helps to shift gear up and down with ease, but it might take some time to get used to it because of the quick power delivery. Gear ratios are small and when acceleration is hard you would have to shift gears fast as there is not much gap between the gears with which you might reach its top speed of 199kph and acceleration from 0-96kph in just 3.2 sec which is very impressive. Chassis of SMC is similar to the motocross or you can say supermoto bikes, which makes the bike easy to handle and change direction with ease, with street racing tires.

Riding this bike is so much fun that while going into a corner you can decide whether to go in style while drifting or you want to corner like a Moto GP bike. She is made to go around corners having fun and fast, but she is not just fun in corners but also in a straight line. If you’re not paying attention to your throttle you will do a wheely, if you have experience then she is a bike to ride and is really well-behaved girl. As she has so much power and handles so good she needs a good braking system and she has also got those part covered, with the best disc breaks and abs system from Bosch.

With modes even for traction control and an on-off switch for ABS, the ABS and traction control system is really good, not much interference and gives so much confidence even on the uneven roads. Last the suspension, it is fully adjustable suspension system for both front and back which I would suggest not to change unless you're on a race track for which the settings guidance is given under the seat and that suspension configuration is perfect for the track.

Source: ktm.com

This bike is like that friend with who you do mischief, it's the same with her while you're riding her keep things well mannered is difficult on the road because she is so much fun to ride and controllable.
Only thing is the seats and fuel tank size makes it difficult to take her for a long trip, if you want you can take her everyone has different comfortable riding position and with a small single long seat you can adjust your self easily and suspension can be settled up for more comfort then sports to take her on to bit off roads as SMC and enduro are technical same bike just a few parts and design are different. But still depending on the rider she can behave really well even on the city streets but can be taken on smooth sand track for fun as she is a supermoto bike. No wonder the other name of her is the ‘Street Slayer’.

Final verdict

One of the best fun bike you can find on the market, a really good balance between crazy and precision. Best suited for those who go on tracks like doing stunts or for short-distance rides, as I said above can be taken for long distance but riding position comfort and if you're ready to make frequent stops for refuelling then go for it.

KIA SELTOS

Source: KIA India

South Korea’s second-largest automobile car manufacturer after Hyundai, Kia Motors are now a hot topic in discussions of millennials as well as the boomers.
The looks itself is enough for the rivals to start worrying and if we start talking about the features, it will take some time to cover all those as the new Kia Seltos is loaded with features that in no time you will be asking, ‘tell me, what it doesn’t have’.
KIA first showed its presence in India with KIA Stinger at Delhi Auto Expo in 2018, after which their second launch come to Seltos on 16th July 2019. And Seltos is a hell of a car for the competition to keep up with in terms of the features that she provides in the given price range.
It is not a new car in the market, it is a new brand here to take down the best of the best. Seltos has given a threatening start to its sales for the SUV segment of every brand, yes, every brand.
Let us talk about the looks first, Kia has their signature tiger-nose grille which looks quite good. It’s not just the nose on the front does look aggressive and appealing, from the outside it has been given a bit muscular curves also from the back it is appealing.
KIA Seltos topped in the utility vehicle sales in Nov 2019 by selling 14005 units in November itself pushing down Maruti’s Vitara Brezza(12033) and Hyundai Venue(9665).

Overall KIA has done a nice job even the size of the tire to the body ratio is good to make it feel like a compact SUV. It’s not just from outside it looks good but also, a big well-placed infotainment system and on top variants, you will also get BOSS speakers which you can say is a party piece for this car. KIA has paid a lot of focus on including technology.
The air-purifier is a must for now, as we know the difficulty to breathe in some Indian cities nowadays, Seltos doesn’t compromise on it. Ventilate & power seats are provided in the new brand. 8-speaker Boss system is a delight to see, the dynamic Speed Compensation technology, keeps you entertained on every drive.

Performance
Even in this model you can select the driving mode and only with DCT you get this option, with which not just the throttle response changes but also the weight on the steering wheel and it changes the driving experience makes it much better. In terms of on-road behaviour, the car manages its weight good enough to go around the corner it’s not sporty but gives enough confidence. When it comes to Diesel, you can say it is one of the most refined diesel engines you can find in the market. You can say Seltos is not the most powerful here in this segment.
Let's talk about performance, it has 3 engine variant 1.4l petrol and 1.5 L Diesel/petrol. In this the 1.4l petrol is turbocharged and most powerful here there is turbo lag in the lower range but not that much and for this one there are 2 options manual and DCT with different driving modes which not only changes the throttle response but also the weight on the steering wheel, this makes driving experience even better and DCT is way better than other automatic gearboxes available for other engine variants downshift and upshift are smooth and on time when needed reducing to jerk while driving it.
Enough stiffness is given to the steering, but it is said to be the best feeling Korean SUV in the market. Refinement is quite smooth and handling is easy. 1.5 diesel is the stable one in the group, already meets BS6 standards, so being ready for India. The 1.4 turbo petrol which has 7-speed DCT. It comes with a sporty feel and gets a heads up display and first in class. Paddle shifts are missing in this variant, don’t know why but it is. You have a good traction control system.
Seltos has brought a great car in the Indian market at a great price, the spec safety and the tech which it provides in the car is new. This car is for those who want space comfort and tech in their car should definitely go for it.
The backseat is quite comfy but not very big. Legroom and headroom are enough for tall people as well. Packed with facilities even in the backseat you will be delighted.
You have 16 variants if Seltos, wow, and that’s something KIA trying to do here. KIA is just bombing with offers to the customers they never knew they can have.
KIA Seltos is a connected car, it comes with a SIM inside the car which can be connected to your SIM. UO app you get with Seltos can be used to start the car from outside and pre-cool before you get inside the car.

Final verdict
